A monorail rake broke down near Mumbai’s BPCL station at 6.30am on Monday due to a technical snag, resulting in suspension of services on Wadala - Chembur stretch.

According to Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority (MMRDA) officials, all passengers were evacuated safely since the rake failed after reaching the station.
MMRDA officials informed that services were operational on BPCL - Chembur stretch while repair work was being carried out.
MMRDA spokesperson Dilip Kawathkar said “We are trying to find out the actual reason behind the technical snag. Our officials are busy towing away the rake with the help of another operational rake to Wadala depot. We expect that the services will be resumed on the entire 11.2-km corridor by 12pm.”
Monorail project has seen similar incidents, since its commencement in 2014, including the one in March last year, in which 11 passengers were stuck for over an hour due to power failure.
