Nashik arms haul accused held in second MCOCA case, brought to Mumbai

A senior crime branch official confirmed that Badshah was brought to Mumbai on Tuesday and produced before a MCOCA court, which remanded him in to police custody till January 26.

Officials of the Mumbai crime branch have taken custody of Badrinumaj Akbar Badshah alias Pasha alias Suka, 27, from the Nashik police and arrested him in connection with an extortion case, in which he cheated a Wadala businessman. The police have already arrested his father Akbar Pasha and have invoked the stringent Maharashtra Control of Organised Crime Act (MCOCA) in the case.

Badshah had extorted the businessman of Rs2.5 lakh. He is already facing MCOCA charges from the Nashik police after he was caught with a huge cache of fire arms in December last year.

Badshah and his other gang members had threatened a Nashik petrol pump staff at gun point and refused to pay for the fuel at the station on December 15, 2017, which led to the seizure of a large quantity of arms near Chandwad toll naka on the Agra-Mumbai highway. The seizure included 25 rifles, one machine gun, 19 revolvers and 4,166 live cartridges. Later, his other accomplices were also nabbed.

“We have taken his custody in the Wadala businessman extortion case, in which his father and him had extorted the businessman. Badshah was also involved in threatening the businessman using a firearm, hence we invoked sections of Arms Act in the case. Efforts are being taken to trace the weapon used while committing the offence,” said a crime branch officer.
