Member of Parliament (MP) Supriya Sule attacked the BJP government over its failure to intervene and resolve the Padmaavat row, while attending a programme organised by the Yashwant Rao Chavan Pratisthan in Thane.

“It is the utter failure of the BJP government that despite being in power in both, the centre and the state, they are unable to screen the movie. The movie has gotten a nod from the central board of film certification (CBFC) as well as the court, and yet the government is unable to screen the movie in five states.”
The movie is not being screened in five BJP-ruled states, Rajasthan, Gujarat, Madhya Pradesh, Goa and Bihar, owing to the country-wide protests launched by the Rajput outfit Karni Sena. The Sena has claimed that the Sanjay Leela Bhansali-directed film distorts history and has hurt Rajput sentiments.
Attacking the Karni Sena, Sule said, “One should not blindly protest. They should first watch the movie, analyse that whether or not there is anything to protest about, and only then put their opinion forward.”
Commenting on the recent incident of stone pelting on a Delhi school bus, she said, “Hurling stones on the school bus was uncalled. It is a very sad incident and such things should not happen in the name of protest.”
