Taking the Mumbai-Goa highway? Be prepared to be stuck in a traffic pile-up for hours, thanks to a tree fall near Vadkhal in Raigad district on Friday morning.

According to the police, the heavy rain over the past 48 hours may have led to the tree fall.
Vehicles coming from Goa to Mumbai and vice-versa came to a standstill.
The police and officials from the local administration cleared the spot.
“It took a few hours to cut the tree into pieces and removed those from the road. The situation was normal after around 9 am,” said a police officer from Vadkhal police station.
Motorists have been facing numerous problems on the highway due to widening work going on at different places in Raigad district. The situation has worsened with the coming of monsoon.
