The Mulund police has registered a case of cheating against three people, for allegedly cheating a 49-year-old mechanical engineer of Rs50 lakh.

The complainant, Sendrick Peter D’souza, said that the accused cheated him on the pretext of making him a 20% partner at their BPO firm.
D’souza, who travels abroad often for work, met the accused in Mulund in 2009. The three struck a deal with D’souza, promising to make him a 20% partner in their business. He invested Rs50 lakh to set up the business and make a profit in eight years, said a police official.
Senior inspector, Shripat Kale, Mulund police station, said, “The accused did not give him any profits between the years 2009 and 2017. A case has been registered for cheating and breach of trust, as per the statements given by the victim.”
Investigations are underway, the police said.
