Assault on cops continued in the city with two separate incidents reported on Sunday in which a female sub inspector was abused and a constable manhandled.

At Shivaji Park, the police arrested three persons — Santosh Godar, Vinod Pharsi and Gajanand Pakade — for allegedly abusing a female police sub inspector while she was on patrol duty for the ongoing Ganesh festival at Dadar Chowpatty on Saturday.
The trio, suspected to be inebriated, was misbehaving on the road and when the woman cop intervened to stop them, the trio abused her. The accused have been booked under Sections 506 (punishment for criminal intimidation) and 509 (word, gesture or act intended to insult the modesty of a woman) of the Indian Penal Code.
In another incident on Friday night, Rohit More, a police constable attached to Trombay police station was on patrolling duty when he noticed a brawl between two taxi drivers at Panjarpol in Chembur. “When the cop tried to intervene and stop the brawl, which began due to haphazard overtaking on the road, he was manhandled following which a case was filed and one accused was arrested,” said a police officer. Police have deployed heavy bandobast across the city as a precautionary measure.
