Unsafe Mumbai: 28-year-old woman found with her throat slit in SoBo home

A 28-year-old woman was murdered inside her residence at Colaba in south Mumbai on Wednesday. The police said that an unidentified person entered the house of the deceased and after assaulting her, the accused slit her throat with a sharp object.
The police have identified the victim as Shweta Mahendra Tandel, and said that the incident took place between 8.45am to 12.30pm on Wednesday, when her husband Mahendra had gone out for work.
An officer from Colaba police station said, “Shweta was staying with her husband at Colabawadi, who left for work at 8.45am. When he returned home for lunch at 12.30pm, he found his wife lying in a pool of blood with her throat slit.”
Following which, her husband, immediately took her to St George hospital and informed other family members. However, the victim was declared dead before admission. The hospital authorities informed the police, and a case was registered.
We have registered the complaint based on her father’s statement, said an investigating officer.
The Colaba police have registered a case under section 302 (punishment for murder) of the Indian Penal Code and are investigating further.
