Women catch man masturbating in front of them at Mumbai’s Marine Drive, get him arrested

The man has been remanded in police custody

A 24-year-old man was arrested for masturbating in front of three women on the Marine Drive promenade on Friday night.

The incident took place at 10pm on Friday, when the 30-year-old complainant, who is a journalist from a newspaper, was sitting opposite Intercontinental Hotel at Marine Drive along with her friends.

The police officers said that the women were chatting amongst themselves when they saw the man sitting a few meters away from them. “The women said that as they turned towards the man, they noticed him staring at them. He then began masturbating in front of them. Disgusted, the women got up from the spot and alerted the police constable patrolling the promenade,” said Gangawane, senior police inspector, Marine Drive police station.

The constable nabbed the man and took him to the police station. The man, identified as Rajut Akshay Das, does odd jobs. He was arrested under section 354 of the IPC for molestation.

Das was produced before court on Saturday, where he was remanded in police custody.
