The police said the residents protested against hawkers who had put up stalls outside a residential building in Parekh Nagar.

On Saturday afternoon, two residents started picking up items from a roadside pav bhaji stall and throwing them on the road after the owners refused to move their stall elsewhere.

A woman who runs a coconut stall then approached the Kandivli police and said the residents misbehaved with her.

However, the residents said the hawkers had threatened them. “According to the woman’s allegation, a case of molestation has been registered against the residents.

According to the residents’ allegations, four hawkers were booked under charges of threatening,” said a police officer of the Kandivli police station.
