BHIWANDI: Local residents of Bhiwandi have come forward to help the residents of Kabir Seth building in Gaibi Nagar, which collapsed on Sunday morning, killing eight and injuring 22 people.

Zakir Shaikh, 25, a resident of Gaibi Nagar where the building collapsed, said, “I lost my friend in the tragedy, but we have come together to help those who are affected by the tragedy. We have formed a group to help them with food, clothing and shelter. We are distributing food packets and have donated clothes too.”

Tauhib Mohammed, 45, another resident and a social worker, said, “We took the day off from work to help out these people. We are collecting the money, gold, clothes and other things found in the debris. We will hand them over to the families after identification.”
