MUMBAI: Students in the state who took the Higher Secondary Certificate (HSC) supplementary exams, the results of which were announced on Wednesday, recorded a success rate of 27.06%, the highest in three years.

Compared to last year, Mumbai division fared better this time and secured seventh rank in divisions as 7,063 students secured passing marks out of a total 32,209. The success rate of 21.96% is an improvement over last year’s 17.92%. However, the division had recorded 27.95% in 2014.
Across the nine divisions, the success rate jumped by 5.4% with 32,921 students passing, out of 1,21,799 examinees.
“Although students’ performance has improved in the July exams, we cannot say whether it is because we held the exams earlier than usual,” said Gangadhar Mhamane, chairperson of the Maharashtra State Board of Secondary and Higher Secondary Education.
Also, in a first, students will be able to apply for re-evaluation of all six papers.
The board has not yet announced the dates for mark sheet distribution in colleges.
