MUMBAI : The heavy rain in the city for the past 24 hours have not dampened the spirits of the Mumbai police. Reason: their efforts were appreciated by cricketer Sachin Tendulkar.

In a tweet on Tuesday night, Tendulkar lauded the efforts of @MumbaiPolice. He tweeted, “Come rain or shine @mumbaipolice is truly dedicated to our safety & well being (even in the rains) I salute them all!” He also attached a 41-second video showing police regulating traffic.
The police have been monitoring and regulating traffic throughout the past 24 hours, as normal life was disrupted because of heavy rain.
The northbound stretch of the Western Express Highway witnessed heavy traffic since morning, with motorists taking at least an hour to reach Goregaon from Borivli. Andheri flyover witnessed slow-moving traffic. Similar was situation was witnessed at Kalanagar flyover where motorists slowed down due to heavy rain.
Water-logging was reported on SV Road, Andheri , near Oberoi Mall in Malad and also on Malad link road.
Several motorists, however, opted for SV Road to avoid the crawling traffic on the WEH. DN Nagar in Andheri faced heavy traffic, while Chandivali Farms Road was another problematic ride for many motorists.
The Mumbai traffic police personnel tried diverting traffic to arterial roads, so there is no build up of congestion on major routes.
The Western Express Highway returned to its normal pace by noon, but parts including Jogeshwari and Malad still had heavy traffic.
