MIUMBAI: The state government has set a record for planting 2.81 crore trees in one day and made its way into the Limca Book of Records. Over 150 types of trees were planted at 65,674 spots by 6.14 lakh people on July 1, said officials. The state government is in talks with defence minister Manohar Parrikar to establish an eco-battalion comprising regular and former servicemen for restoring environmentally degraded areas.
