NAVI MUMBAI: An 18-year-old college student fell into Kamothe creek on Friday while throwing floral waste into the water.

The police and fire brigade officials have been searching for him since then but have not been able to trace him yet.
According to the police, Abhishek Kasrekar, a student of class 12 along with his father Ananta Kasrekar, went to a bridge along Sion-Panvel highway on a two-wheeler to throw the floral waste around 9 pm.
While his father remained seated on the motorcycle, Abhishek went to throw the waste.
“While throwing a packet of the waste, the boy somehow lost his balance and fell into the water. His father tried to save him but could not do much because of the darkness,” said one police officer from Kamothe police station.
A few motorists who learnt about the incident informed the police.
Fire brigade officials reached the spot within a few minutes and started searching for the boy.
“Because of high tide, the creek was full of water when the incident took place. We are putting our best efforts to trace the boy,” the officer said.
