A 12-year-old student from CD Barfiwala High School, Andheri (West), died after he was run over by his school bus on Wednesday. The incident took place around 1.15pm.

According to police, the boy, Hamza Siddiqui Tayyani, a Class 6 student and Jogeshwari resident, was about to board the bus, when another child accidentally pushed him.
“All the students were in a rush to get in. Another child pushed Tayyani and he fell down. While he was trying to get up, his bag got stuck in the rear wheel of the bus,” said S Gavade, assistant inspector, DN Nagar police station. “The bus driver did not realise what happened and started moving forward, dragging the child. He came under the wheel of the bus.”
Students informed the school authorities who called up the boy’s parents. The boy was taken to a nearby hospital where he was given treatment. He, however, succumbed to his injuries a few hours later, the police said.
The DN Nagar police registered a case of death due to negligence against the driver, Deepak Gurav, 30, who was arrested.
When contacted, the school authorities claimed that a conductor and a bus attendant were present inside the bus.
