16-yr-old arrested for molesting minor

The Goregaon police arrested a 16-year-old boy on Thursday for allegedly molesting a 13-year-old girl and then confining her at his Goregaon (West) residence. The police said that the boy was sent to Dongri children’s home.

According to the police, the victim and accused live in the same building in the Gamdevi area of Goregaon (West). The accused is the brother of the victim’s friend. “At around 6.30pm on Thursday, the victim went to her friend’s house, but she was not at home. However, her brother let the girl in and forcibly hugged her. When the victim shouted for help, the accused fled the apartment,” said an official from Goregaon police station.

The police said the accused panicked and locked the victim inside the apartment. The victim's parents came to fetch her after she called them from the landline in the apartment, following which she narrated the incident.

The victim’s family approached the Goregaon police and a case was registered against the accused under Indian Penal Code sections 342 for wrongful confinement and 354 for outraging the modesty of a woman.
