Colleges declared the second merit lists on Wednesday. Cut-offs for coveted professional courses cut-offs fell by mere decimal points. For example, at HR College, the cut-off for BCom in Accounting and Finance (BAF) fell by 0.3 percentage points from 93.4% in the first list to 93.17% in the second list.

“It is very unlikely that there will be a third list and if there is it will be very tiny. Admission to professional courses is very competitive,” said Manju Nichani, principal, KC College.

At St Xavier’s College, this is the first year when there was no second merit list for science. “We all are very surprised. Probably since several students from outside Mumbai are applying the list is full early. They might not join and seats might open up later,” said principal, Father Frazer Mascarenhas.

In DG Ruparel College, the BSc (IT) list closed at a maths score of 88, one mark less than the first list. “There are 20 students who have scored 88 and filled up the second list,” said principal Tushar Desai. “A third list is unlikely and even if there is one it will not go below 87 for BSc (IT).”

It’s admission cut-off for the 30 seats was 95.2%. At RA Podar College, too, the BCom cut-off was still in the 90s.

But principals said that cut-offs for professional courses in science would come down by the last list because the engineering admissions have begun.
