Three days after three persons shot criminal lawyer Shahid Azmi dead at Kurla, the local police have interrogated at least 30 persons.

The police are gathering details about local residents, family members, those who called Azmi before the murder, and those who called his home.
Azmi (33), who was the defence lawyer in terror cases including the 26/11 trial and the serial train blasts of 2006, was killed by three unknown assailants at his office in Kurla on Thursday evening.
“We are trying to figure out how Shahid Azmi got roped in as advocate in each of his cases,” said a senior police officer, requesting anonymity. “Who contacted him for the case, and the circumstances in and reasons why he was roped in.”
The police have recorded statements of Azmi’s family and staff.
Police sources said they are getting closer to the suspects.
The crime branch, which is also probing the case, is mainly focusing on the person who called Azmi’s colleague, Saba Qureshi, minutes before the murder.
The police are preparing sketches of the other two accused. “We are investigating all angles,” said Deputy Commissioner of Police (Crime), Nisar Tamboli.
