The body of a 30-year-old man was found under mysterious circumstances in a room in Govandi on Monday. The deceased, Mohammad Shahbuddin Ansari, was found with his throat slit, said Shivaji Nagar police, who have registered a case of murder.

Ansari had come to the city from his native place in Bihar five months ago and soon found job in a garment workshop in Baiganwadi at Shivaji Nagar. “Ansari was residing in a rented room with two men, who have been identified as Vinayak Kambli and Prashant, before he decided to move out, folowing a fight with them,” said sub inspector S Awte.
Gufran, owner of the workshop where Ansari was employed, said, “Ansari had gone to his village in Bihar for a month. He returned a week ago when Kambli met him and asked him to move in with them.”
Ansari was last seen with Kambli around 9.30pm on Sunday. “Locals contacted us at around 4am on Monday and informed us about a body being found in a room at Baiganwadi. We rushed to the spot and saw Ansari’s body with his throat slit. An unused pack of condoms was also found near his body,” said Awte.
The police tried to contact Kambli but he is missing.
