The incident occurred on Friday night at Bhimnagar during the revelry while the haldi ceremony was going on around midnight. The Rabale MID police said Sunny Sonawane, 27, and Ganesh Kothal, 32, had an argument after they bumped into each other during the dance. The police reached the spot and separated the two.

However, Sonawane is said to have been upset. Sometime later, he allegedly took some petrol from a vehicle and poured it on Kothal who was just getting ready to eat. Sonawane then lit a match and threw it at him resulting in Kothal sustaining 85% burns.

Kothal has been admitted to NMMC hospital in Vashi where he is in critical condition. While Sonawane ran away following the incident, he was arrested by the police on Sunday evening.
