33-year-old man held for trying to sodomise child

The Vikhroli police on Monday arrested a 33-year-old man for allegedly attempting to have physical relations with a 9-year-old boy. Gurmeet Singh alias Kake was alone at his Vikhroli residence, as his wife and children were at their native place.

The incident took place around 3.30pm on Sunday. As it was his day off, Singh, who does odd jobs, was alone at home. Senior inspector of Vikhroli police Mahipak Indalkar said that Singh was aware that the victim, a Class 3 student, was alone at home.

“He invited the boy to his house to play games on his mobile phone. He then touched him inappropriately and forced him to get physical,” said Indalkar. The victim, who was scared, ran home. The boy told his parents when they came home and they approached the police.

“On interrogation Singh confessed to the crime. We have booked him,” said Indalkar.
