Governor K. Sankaranarayanan, in his capacity as the chancellor of the state’s universities, on Friday appointed vice-chancellors (VC) for four varsities.

R.K. Shevgaonkar, deputy director with IIT-Bombay, will be new VC of the University of Pune, Head of department of Geology in University of Pune, while N.J. Pawar has been named as VC of Shivaji University-Kolhapur.
Former principal of Dr Ambedkar College, Nagpur, R. Krishnakumar will be VC of Y.B. Chavan Maharashtra Open University-Nashik and R.B. Mankar, director of the Laxmi-narayan Institute of Technology, Nagpur, will be the VC of Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar Techn-ological University, Raigad, a Raj Bhavan spokesman said.
The selection of the VC for the University of Mumbai is still in limbo with the governor dissolving the committee appointed for selection of candidates. The post has been lying vacant for the last three months.
