Actor Inder Kumar (42) was involved in a case of mid-air rage on board a Kingfisher flight from Delhi to Mumbai on Friday.
The airport police registered a non-cognisable offence and let him off.
This is the fifth case of unruly behaviour by fliers this month. Previous cases include mid-air molestations of flight attendants and a case of passengers holding Air India crew hostage.
According to eyewitness accounts, shortly after Kingfisher flight IT 310 took off from Delhi the actor, who did a cameo in the recent Salman Khan film, started getting “cozy” with a woman travelling with him.
A passenger sitting close to Kumar objected to this public display of affection. This triggered a heated exchange of words between the actor and the co-passenger whose identity was not revealed.
As punches were exchanged, the airline crew intervened and separated the duo.
“The commander warned them of the dire consequences of such disruptive behaviour,” said an airline crewmember requesting anonymity.
At around 5pm after the flight landed in Mumbai, the ground staff handed them over to the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) who took them to the police station.
