There have been 887 deaths on railway tracks between January and June.

On Monday evening, three persons were run over by a train near Kandivli station. Santosh Nirmal (32), his brother Arun (14), and their uncle Shyamlal Nirmal (35) were on their way to Dadar to receive relatives from Lucknow.

They were crossing the tracks to reach Kandivli station when a Churchgate-bound fast train hit them.

"The victims were taken to Bhagwati Hospital, where they were declared dead on arrival," S K Waghe an officer of the Borivli Government Railway Police said.

In the second mishap, which occurred at 7.45 am on Tuesday, two boys were crushed under a train near Mankhurd station.

Nilesh Raut (19) and Ramchandra Dhede (18), both Class 12 students of Jhunjhunwala College, Vashi, were going to Chembur to attend coaching classes, said Senior Inspector Baldev Bhujbal of Vashi GRP.
