On March 29, four armed men robbed Vasant Patil (60), a farmer and hotelier, at his Vikramgad residence. They fired three rounds in the air and held his grandson at gunpoint and fled with jewellery and a cellphone totalling Rs 2,45,880.

The police reached the spot within five minutes but were unable to catch them. “An search was carried out in the jungle and by dawn we caught Dashrath Jamadar (20), a Vasai resident,” said SP (Thane Rural) Madhukar Pandey.
