Akbar Raunakali Khan was allegedly injured in the police firing on August 11 and had been admitted to JJ hospital. On Friday evening, after he was discharged, the Mumbai police crime branch arrested him.

On Saturday afternoon, Khan was produced before the magistrate court where the police asked for his custody.

Khan's advocate, Qureshi Aftab, argued that he was not in condition to walk. Aftab also alleged that the police got him discharged against the advice of the doctor.

The court however granted the crime branch his custody and directed them to take him for treatment to JJ hospital.
