79-year-old, son found murdered in Ghatkopar

A 79-year-old woman and her 46-year-old son were found murdered inside their flat at Nav Jeevan Society building in Sainath Nagar, Ghatkopar (West) late Tuesday.

A 79-year-old woman and her 46-year-old son were found murdered inside their flat at Nav Jeevan Society building in Sainath Nagar, Ghatkopar (West) late Tuesday. Radhabai Shivramkrishnan and Jayram were found by Radhabai’s older son Gopinath, 47, when he reached the house around 9pm on Tuesday, the police said.

When Gopinath found the doors locked from the inside and no one responding he broke open the door with the help of neighbours. He found his brother’s body in the bathroom; he had sustained head injuries. His mother had been strangled. Deputy commissioner of police (zone VII) Sanjay Shintre confirmed the incident. Police said nothing had been stolen. Ghatkopar police inspector Rajkumar Khotmire said the murder may have been committed on Tuesday morning, based on the condition of the bodies. Police were carrying out a panchnama at the time of going to press. Gopinath works as a personal assistant to the Mumbai University vice-chancellor.
