ACP shoots self in Dahisar cop station

Assistant commissioner of police BD Gaikwad, from the Dahisar division, allegedly committed suicide by shooting himself with his .9mm service pistol (Glock) at Dahisar police station, on Monday.

Gaikwad did not leave behind any note. Gaikwad, 57, is survived by his wife, two daughters and a son. One daughter is a doctor in Mumbai, while the other is doing her MBBS in Canada. His 17-year-old son is mentally challenged, police said.

“There are missed calls on Gaikwad’s phone. We will check records for leads,” R Pawar, addl commissioner of police (north) said.
