Social activist Ishwar Prasad Khandelwal has approached the Bombay high court challenging validity of the C-summary report filed by the local police in the Maval firing incident.

The report states that there was no evidence for prosecuting eight police personnel allegedly responsible for causing death of three agitating farmers in August 2011. Khandelwal’s petition will be heard along with a bunch of public interest litigations seeking the transfer of investigations into the police firing on agitating farmers to an independent agency.
On Tuesday, the petition was listed before justice Abhay Thipsay, who felt that it should be heard by the same bench that is hearing the other PILs.
In August 2011, farmers of Maval tehsil in Pune district had protested the lifting of water from Pavna Dam. The agitation turned violent after the farmers tried to block Mumbai-Pune expressway which led to police firing. HTC
