Activists urge Muslim youth to join police force

This is the first time that the application process has gone online.

“It is very important to have members from the minority groups in the police force. There needs to be equal representation in the police force,” said MA Khalid, an activist, while addressing a press conference on Tuesday.

The Federation will hold a free eight-day training programme in October to prepare applicants for the fitness and written tests. “Till last year, the personal interview and written test was conducted in high-level Marathi, which our community youth found difficult to deal with. Only four out of the 300 applicants eventually cleared the tests,” said Salim Alware, convenor of the Federation. “This year, the interview has been cancelled and the language used in the written test has been simplified,” he added.

The Federation will meet heads of various mosques on Wednesday to request them to address the youth during the religious sermons on Friday to apply for the police jobs.
