Actor Lovina Bhatia, 23, has sought to be discharged from the allegation of aiding and abetting the suicide of actor Kunal Singh, who committed suicide in his flat at Lokhandwala Complex in February 2008.

Bhatia has contended in her petition filed in the Bombay high court, that there was neither any direct nor any circumstantial evidence against her.
“In the entire charge sheet, the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has not made any allegation, which said she intended or engineered Singh’s suicide,” her petition states.
The CBI, on the other hand, maintained that prima facie the case was made out against Bhatia for abetting suicide. The CBI contended that the evidence against Bhatia could not be evaluated at this stage, especially when the trial has begun.
“Probity of the witness statements can not be looked into at this stage,” said MV Lad, the CBI officer investigating the case in his affidavit in reply to Bhatia’s petition seeking discharge.
The affidavit further stated that Singh and Bhatia had an intimate relationship, which had created discord between Singh and his wife.
