Adequate security for Hazare: Maharashtra tells Centre

As Anna Hazare is getting ready for three-day fast for a lokpal bill, the Maharashtra government has assured the Centre that all necessary arrangements are being taken for his security during his stir in Mumbai.

As Anna Hazare is getting ready for three-day fast for a lokpal bill, the Maharashtra government has assured the Centre that all necessary arrangements are being taken for his security during his stir in Mumbai.

In a communique to the Central government, the Maharashtra government said adequate security will be provided to Hazare when he will stage his fast at the MMRDA ground in the metropolis, official sources said.

The Mumbai Police is deploying adequate security personnel at the ground for smooth control of crowd and to avoid any untoward incident.

"The Maharashtra government is in regular touch with the Centre and regularly updating the development in Mumbai," an official said.

Hazare on Monday said he will go ahead with his fast in Mumbai from Tuesday against a "weak" lokpal bill.
