DS Patil, inspector, Bandra police station said, "So far Pereira has not surrendered."

When questioned if the police would issue an arrest warrant against him if he did not surrender, Patil said, "Currently, we are waiting for him to come to us. We will start tracing him once we get an order either from the court or from the jail."

Pereira mowed down seven people sleeping on a pavement in Bandra in 2006 and injured eight others. He was drunk at the time.

On Thursday, the court upheld a three-year jail term awarded to him, cancelled his bail and directed him to surrender. Pereira's lawyer Manjula Rao had earlier said that that she did not know where he was.
