Two days after actor Preity Zinta spotted an ambulance fleeing after knocking down a pedestrian on the Western Express Highway, the Vile Parle police arrested two persons involved in the hit-and-run case.

The police arrested the driver Prashant Mahadik, employed with KEM hospital, and also the owner of the ambulance, Parshuram Kamble, from Lower Parel on Tuesday.
“After we traced the ambulance, we contacted the KEM hospital staff, who gave us their location. Our team then arrested the duo from Lower Parel,” said Rajesh Patil, sub-inspector, Vile Parle police station.
The victim, Ganpat Gaunak, 57, was crossing the road on Sunday when the ambulance knocked him down. Zinta, who witnessed the accident, chased the ambulance, posted the registration plate number on a social networking site and informed the police control room. Gaunak’s legs were fractured in the accident.
