Former army chief General VK Singh, as part of Team Anna, escalated his conflict with the UPA government from a legal to a political level and demanded on Monday that Parliament be dissolved.

Addressing a press conference with anti-corruption activist Anna Hazare in Mumbai, Singh attacked the government, questioning its decisions such as FDI in retail.

"On every decision that has been taken in recent times, the UPA government has been in a minority. Parliament should be dissolved … and fresh elections should be held," they said in a statement.

However, both Hazare and Singh made it clear they would neither form a political party nor do backseat driving for any other outfit.
