Another arrest in fake encounter case

The Special Investigation Team (SIT) arrested one more person for his alleged involvement in the killing of alleged Chhota Rajan gangster Ramnarayan Gupta alias Lakhan Bhaiyya in a fake encounter.

The Special Investigation Team (SIT) arrested one more person for his alleged involvement in the killing of alleged Chhota Rajan gangster Ramnarayan Gupta alias Lakhan Bhaiyya in a fake encounter.

On November 11, 2006, dismissed senior police inspector Pradeep Suryavanshi had allegedly led a team of policemen that killed Gupta in Versova in an encounter.

On Wednesday, the SIT arrested Mohammed Mohiddin Shaikh alias Mohammed Takka from Mira Road and produced him in Andheri court on Thursday. He has been remanded in police custody until May 24.

“We have arrested him as he was involved with the group that picked up Lakhan Bhaiyya before he was killed,” said an officer, requesting anonymity.

According to sources, Takka is a history sheeter and has several cases of robbery against him. He had also served time in jail and had come in contact with one of the informers of prime accused dismissed Police Inspector Pradeep Sharma.
