The special Anti-Terrorism Squad (ATS) court at Mazgaon remanded an alleged member of the banned Students Islamic Movement of India (SIMI) and Indian Mujahideen (IM) to police custody on Wednesday.
The accused Asrar Hamid Tailor alias Sagri, 41, is the second alleged SIMI and IM member to be arrested in connection with a fake currency case. ATS officials have recovered fake currency worth Rs 75,500 from Sagri. He was arrested outside Borivli railway station on Monday after ATS officials received intelligence report about his whereabouts.
The remand application states that Sagri and Mohammed Haroon Naik, 33, who was arrested a few days ago, are active members of SIMI and IM, and Haroon had sent Sagri, a confidant of several unknown accused in the case, to Pakistan in 2000 to train under terror outfits.
