Bar owner arrested with unlicenced pistol in Panvel

The Navi Mumbai Crime branch arrested Sunil Shetty (40) who had gone to Panvel to sell an unlicensed pistol and cartridges. Police have recovered the 9 mm foreign-make pistol and seven cartridges from him.

The arrest followed after Police Inspector Avinash Dharmadhikari got a tip-off about Shetty.

According to Deputy Commissioner of Police (Crime) Dattatrey Shinde, "Initial investigations have revealed that Shetty owns a beer bar and restaurant in Ulhasnagar."

"He said he had borrowed the pistol from someone and had come to return it."
