Civil rights activist and pediatrician Dr Binayak Sen, who has spent decades treating tribals in Chhattisgarh and was granted bail by Supreme Court in April following his conviction on sedition charges, is in Mumbai and will be interacting with the press at the Press Club on Monday.

Social activist Jatin Desai said that Sen would be talking on the issue of human rights and his incarceration. "He may also speak on the controversy that has erupted after he was named in the steering committee on health issues," Desai said, referring to Sen’s inclusion in the Planning Commission's Steering Committee on Health, which will advise the commission on the Twelfth Five-Year Plan (2012-2017).
A Raipur sessions court had on December 24, 2010 found Sen guilty of sedition. Sen had filed a petition in the Chhattisgarh high court on January 6, challenging the district and sessions court order that had sentenced him to life imprisonment on sedition charges.
Sen was granted bail by the Supreme Court on April 15, 2011.
