The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation is in talks with US-based multinational General Electric (GE) for acquiring technology to convert waste into energy.

The BMC plans to enter the energy sector to produce around 20 mega watt electricity from waste from four dumping grounds in the city and convert the methane released from the process into electricity. The US firm will assist the civic body in this process.
