A seventh standard student of a school in central Mumbai on Monday committed suicide by hanging herself inside the premises of the institute, police said.

Police suspect the boy might have taken this extreme step under pressure, since he was poor in studies.
According to police, the boy arrived at Shardashram school in Dadar at 7 am but was not present in the classroom when the teacher was taking attendance.
When checked he was found hanging in the washroom, police said, adding, "preliminary investigation suggests that he was worried since he was not well in studies. This might have forced him to commit suicide."
In another incident, a medical student ended her life by allegedly hanging herself at her residence in Powai at western suburbs, police said.
