The office of a well-known builder in Mira Road was robbed at gunpoint by five men on Tuesday morning, who fled with Rs 15 lakh.

The police suspect the role of an insider. The incident occurred at the head office of Rashmi Housing Pvt Ltd located near Mira Road railway station. Ashok Bosmiya, the owner of the company, his accountant Gopal Dubey and driver were present in the office at the time of the incident. A candidate who had come for a job interview was also there, the police added.

Five masked men barged into the first floor office and tied them up. Two of them whipped out guns and asked for the locker keys.

The cash was for payment of salaries of employees, Bosmiya told the police. “A case of dacoity was then registered,” said police sub-inspector Anand Bhoir. The closed-circuit television camera installed inside the office was not functioning since Friday and was going to be replaced by Wednesday.
