'Cash-filled' suitcases remain unclaimed

The Government Railway Police (GRP) commissioner Tukaram Chavan said no one has come forward to claim the bags. “We have given the Passenger Name Record (PNR) number of the likely owner to the railway authorities so that he/she can be contacted,” Chavan said.

Chief public relations officer (Central Railway) VA Malegaonkar said the owners of the suitcases have not contacted them so far. Railway police sources had earlier said a man identified only as Vijay had deposited one of the bags on April 28. The other bag had been kept by a woman identified as Mamta, a day later.

The police control room at Sandhurst Road had got a call on Saturday afternoon about two suitcases full of cash having been kept at the CST cloakroom.

The baggage was however scanned to ensure there were no explosives inside.
