He and his accomplice Alam Adam Mansoor, 20, were arrested near Karnatak Hall in Mahim.

It has been extremely tough to nab Bada Sajid because he used to change his appearance every few months to dodge the police officials. “On Wednesday, two constables informed me of having seen a person who looked like Bada Sajid. So we immediately ordered for a nakabandhi near Karantak hall and arrested him,” said assistant police inspector B Kadam.

The duo was spotted by two constables Srinivas Sadambe and Umair Khan posted with Mahim police station.

“The two constables were asked to keep a watch at places such as Temburkar Hall, Karnatak Hall in Mughal Lane at Matunga, and near the Matunga railway station as these areas have been identified as notorious for instances of chain snatching,” said Kadam.

Till now, they have 40 cases registered against them. Gold chains worth Rs2 lakh was recovered from the two.

The duo was remanded in police custody by a metropolitan magistrate’s court at Bandra. Senior police inspector RM Desai of Mahim police station said: “Once our investigations are over, other police stations can ask for their custody.”
