Chief minister Prithviraj Chavan has challenged the Bharatiya Janata Party — which according to him has opened a Right to Information cell — to prove his alleged role in the 2G spectrum scam.

Speaking at a media conference on Wednesday, Chavan said that he would welcome any probe in the allegations that he endorsed the spectrum allotment, while working in the Prime Ministers Office (PMO), as the minister of state.
“There is a clear-cut division of work in the PMO and this information is also available on the government website. One can check and find out who did what,” Chavan said, in reaction to the BJP charge.
“The BJP has opened an RTI cell and the party is free to seek all documents related to the matter. It will help in verifying doubts, if any.”
The Shiv Sena, BJP’s ally, has also demanded a probe into Chavan’s role in the 2G scam.
On Monday, in a letter to Prime Minister Manmohan Singh, Sena Member of Parliament Sanjay Raut claimed that the 2G spectrum scam could not have happened without Chavan’s knowledge, and therefore his role should be probed by the Central Bureau of Investigation, for probity and transparency.
