Hitesh Shah, 36, has been in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) at Bombay Hospital since the blast on Wednesday. But his two children — Sayam, 11, and Jayna, 8 — have not yet been allowed to meet him. As they became more and more anxious, to reassure them, Shah made a video clip for them from his bed in the ICU.

Speaking cheerfully, he told him he was missing them and explained that they would not be able to visit him while he is in the ICU.

Children are not allowed into the ICU to protect them from what might be a traumatic experience. “He did it to assure them he is fine and so that they could see and believe it for

themselves,” said Hetal, 36, his wife.

Shah, a diamond broker, was on his way to drink a cup of tea when the bomb went off at Opera House. He sustained injuries on his back and legs.

“It was reassuring for the children to see their father,” said Nitin Shah, 32, his younger brother who has been at the hospital 24x7.
