Citizens benefit from organisers’ charity work

Hadavle, a Class 10 student, has been attending a learning programme at a training centre in Bhatwadi, which is run by organisers of the Bhatwadi Mitra Mandal.

The centre offers training in computer skills, the English language and in personality development. Almost 400 students enroll for the course every year for an annual fee of Rs 150.

“The computer skills that I have learned here will help me get a good job,” said Hadavle.

“We open our training program to senior citizens and housewives as well. The age group among students ranges from 5 to 60 years,” said Ram Chavan, chief advisor of the mandal. This year, organisers have also helped open bank accounts for students between 18-24 years. They have opened 180 accounts so far.

Social work by several mandals in the city have been helping citizens avail expensive services at affordable rates.

At Lalbaugcha Raja Dialysis Centre, Kalachowkie, almost 100 patients avail the affordable treatment at a nominal charge of Rs 100 everyday. In most private dialysis centres, they would have had to pay up to Rs 1,500.
