The maximum temperature recorded was 35 degree Celsius, which is three degrees above normal. In south Mumbai, the Colaba weather station recorded a minimum temperature of 19.6 degrees Celsius and a maximum of 33.2 degrees Celsius.

Although 15.2 degree Celsius is this season’s lowest temperature so far, weathermen said it is not expected to drop further for a few days. In 2010, the lowest temperature recorded was 13.4 degree Celsius on December 23.

“The disturbances in the western region has enhanced the cold wave sweeping across the northern belt while the north-easterly winds has brought chilly winds to Mumbai,” said K Rajeev, director, western region, Indian Meteorological Department.“The nip in the air will remain for the next few days and the maximum temperature might dip a little,” added Rajeev.
