Vinita, wife of Ashok Kamte — additional commissioner of police who was killed by terrorists at Cama Hospital during the attacks — has alleged that the police control room did not react to repeated calls for help during and after the shootout in the Rang Bhawan lane.

The control room was manned by Maria. Sources close to him said the letter was dispatched on Thursday.

In the letter, Maria has requested Patil that either the government clarify the issues alleged in the book or allow him to speak. In the absence of any of these, he has offered to resign .

“He seemed to be very upset on the developments... in the last two days,” an officer close to Maria said. Maria has said whatever he had to say he had said before the Ram Pradhan panel and the government.

Maria could not be contacted for comment.
