The case was registered on Sunday at Vinoba Bhave Nagar police station on Sunday.

Police sub-inspector Manoj Londe, who is absconding, also allegedly physically abused her for over two years and extorted money from her by threatening to post some sensitive MMS clips of hers on the Internet.

The woman is recuperating at a clinic from injuries she has suffered.

A police team has gone to Aurangabad, where he is suspected to be hiding.

Vineet Agarwal, additional commissioner of police, central region, said: “The case has been registered on the basis of the complaint made by the woman. We will be questioning Londe to verify the allegations.”

Quoting the complaint filed, Agarwal said the victim first met Londe when she went to Vinoba Bhave Nagar police station with some complaint two-and-a-half years ago.

She and Londe, who was posted there, had an affair two years ago. Both Londe and the victim are married.

Around a year ago, Londe was transferred to Gadchiroli, but the victim has alleged that he continued blackmailing her and asked her to transfer money whenever he required to his bank account.

The victim has also told the police that her husband, who works abroad, attempted suicide after he heard that she was being blackmailed and exploited.

The situation took a drastic turn last week when Londe came to Mumbai and allegedly forced himself on her and also beat her. “That is when she approached the police,” Agarwal said.
